Coopers Fire August charity dress down raised £180 for the Isle of Wight donkey sanctuary and enabled us to adopt Mable and Archie the donkeys.
Meet Mable and Archie the newest members of the Coopers family!
Mabel arrived at the sanctuary in February 2021 with a group of 3 other girl donkeys. They needed a home when their owner’s personal circumstances changed, and they were losing their grazing. Mabel is the shorter of the two skewbalds (a donkey that has large patches of white and brown). She’s shy but also very friendly and sweet. Mabel will approach you on her own terms for some scratches and attention!
Since joining at the Sanctuary Archie has made excellent progress and has made many friends, both donkeys and human alike. He is a cheeky but shy chap, who loves to run around the fields playing with the other donkeys on the farm
The Isle of Wight donkey sanctuary rescue homeless and unwanted donkeys, giving them a loving and forever home. Their charity relies entirely on donations, adoptions, and fundraising from the public. Without which, they wouldn’t exist. If a donkey is homeless, or there is a change in their owners’ circumstances, they offer that donkey a new life of high-quality care at their Sanctuary; they share their lives with staff, volunteers, and visitors with whom they have a special relationship. The sanctuary strives to give all their donkeys and ponies the absolute best care and welfare. A lot of work goes into giving the animals ‘5 star’ care and welfare. This includes all the routine work that goes on each day, and all the special treatments, medications, and care that the animals need.
Message from the Isle of Wight donkey sanctuary:
“Thank you so much for your fundraising. It is much appreciated by all our donkeys. The current drought has meant we have had to buy in more food for the donkeys due to the lack of grass, so every bit helps towards to ensuring our donkeys are well looked after. Please pass on our thanks to your whole team.”
